Houseki Design Studio
Houseki Design Studio is a free gem cut designer and faceting planner. Open a faceting design (.gcs, .gem, .asc or .obj) and see the stone path-traced, with dispersion, beside its cutting instructions: every tier's angle, index-gear teeth and notes, pavilion first, then crown, in the order you cut them. Click a tier to find its facets on the stone. It runs entirely in your web browser, with nothing to install.
What you can do with it
- Deterministic renderer The fast, noise-free renderer for turning the stone and comparing cuts.
- Monte Carlo renderer The slower, more realistic renderer, with spectral fire and frosted facets.
- Editing facets by tier Change a tier's angle, index and depth, and add, delete, hide or frost tiers.
- Saving and exporting Open and export design files, print a cutting sheet as a PDF, and share designs as links.
- Rotation by index Turn a whole design around the index gear by a number of teeth, with a slider.
- Girdle resizing Make the girdle thicker or thinner.
- Tangent ratio height scaling Make a stone taller or flatter while its facets keep their shape.
- Manual optimizer Compare the stone at many crown and pavilion heights side by side, and keep the best.
- Tilt performance analyzer Graph how much light a design returns as it tilts away from face-up.
- Cutting assistant Follow the design tier by tier at the machine.
- Recording renders Drag the stone once, and save that motion rendered at full quality as an MP4 video.
